Trade Fair Reports
In 2011 Mode City and Interfilière will Begin a New Era
For almost 50 years, EUROVET, the world's leading organizer of lingerie and beachwear trade fairs, has had the mission of serving the international industry. The first fairs were in Paris, the world's fashion capital, next came Shanghai in 2005, Hong Kong in 2007, and in New York and Las Vegas in 2008 through a partnership with CurveExpo.
For years Mode City and Interfilière have served the swimwear, summer lingerie and Well being markets as the only meeting place for all the major brands and international weavers and manufacturers. These industry players know and trust the trade fairs, which are important strategic development platforms.
Following the move from Lyon to Paris in 2008, Mode City and Interfilière once again will create excitement in 2011. To respond to the market's needs and evolution, Eurovet is changing the trade fair dates to now launch the sector's season i.e. 9 to 11, July 2011.
A NEW ENERGY FOR A NEW ERA !
By positioning the fair at the beginning of the season, Interfilière and Mode City affirm their rightful place as international trade fair leaders, business accelerators and initiators of global trends. This change will also meet the needs of the exhibitors who for several years have suggested this shift. For the Interfilière weavers, it is essential to be next to a major trade fair for finished products that brings together all their important clients, and this will now be the case with the July date.
For more than five years, materials exhibitors have requested an earlier date for the trade fair.
For the Mode City brands, the key dates of 9, 10 and 11 July were carefully chosen by the industry itself to better correspond to the different buying calendars around the world and to take into consideration sectors, distribution networks and countries. Organized around the presentation of the collections, right after Bread & Butter , Berlin , this time is ideal for northern countries and the global community in general.
The dates are before 14 July, after the first weekend of sales for the southern European countries, and right before the beach season is in full swing.
With this change in July 2011, Mode City and Interfilière begin a new phase in their history and will celebrate the event against a fabulous backdrop and with a schedule of original activities and events in the Parc des Expositions and in Paris .
“Cruise by Mode City ” is the place to be in September
Not only will the lingerie and beachwear trade fair move to July, but Mode City will also maintain a place in the Paris September 2011 trade fairs. Cruise by Mode City will meet the needs of the “trendy” brands who wish to reach the ready-to-wear distribution networks at the Porte de Versailles, as well as their specific lingerie and beachwear distribution contacts.
“A complete plan to facilitate the change”
Thanks to a complete plan, Eurovet will put into action a new dynamic with even better performing trade fairs to satisfy business' needs and tomorrow's economic challenges. Aware that such a decision implies changes in the practices of the global market, Eurovet has announced this transition as early as possible – more than a year ahead of time, to allow each participant to get organized as easily as possible. Everything has already been set up to facilitate this changeover throughout the coming year. Beginning shortly, Eurovet teams will be in several European cities to meet manufacturers, agents and distributors to share ideas about this new phase for their international trade fair calendars.
ITMA 2011 Expanding to Include
Research & Education Pavilion
ITMA, the world's largest and most established textile machinery exhibition, has placed bigger spotlight on research and development, as well as education and training; a pavilion will be organised for research institutes and higher institutions of learning to showcase their projects, capabilities and programmes. The Research & Education (R&E) pavilion will be a major feature at next year's ITMA exhibition, which will be held at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Vía venue in Barcelona , Spain from 22 to 29 September 2011. It is one of a range of initiatives by the show owner, CEMATEX, to ensure the sustainable development of the textile and garment industry.
According to Jeroen Vits, Secretary General of SYMATEX ( Belgium ) and Chairman of the ITMA 2011 R&E Committee, the key to creating the industry's sustainable development is through research and development, and education and training. He commented, “We believe that businesses must continue to invest in developing innovative processes, products, and manufacturing capabilities. In addition, human capital must be developed to the fullest. There must be more dialogue and cross-fertilisation of ideas between commercial and academic organisations to encourage synergistic collaboration, and to ensure a continuous stream of new ideas and innovations.
“ITMA 2011 will be an excellent platform for exploring strategic partnerships, exchange of ideas, and networking. We hope more organisations will take up this opportunity to showcase or share their expertise and projects, as we will have well over 100,000 exhibitors and visitors converging at our exhibition.”
AUTEX, the Association of Universities for Textiles, which has 32 members from 24 countries, is in support of ITMA's focus. The association's vision is to facilitate co-operation amongst members in high-level textile education and research. Its General Secretary, Prof Paul Kiekens, of AUTEX, commented: “As the voice of the European textile universities, AUTEX promotes and participates in research and development and education projects which bring added value to the textiles industry at the European level. “We see positive synergies with ITMA, which has been held in Europe for six decades. Hence, we believe the exhibition with its focus on the Research and Education sector is an excellent platform for constructive dialogue between universities and industry members and we are very pleased to support it.”
Invitations have been sent to research centres, institutions and associations all around the world to participate in the R&E pavilion. As a result, a number of leading institutions have already responded to the call. Among them are the Institut für Textil- und Verfahrenstechnik Denkendorf (ITV-Denkendorf) and the Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University (ITA), Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM and Cetex Institut für Textil- und Verarbeitungsmaschinen gemeinnützige GmbH from Germany; D.K.T.E. Society's Textile & Engineering Institute from India; and Instituto Tecnológico Textil (AITEX) and Institut D'investigació Tèxtil I Cooperació Industrial de Terrassa-UPC from Spain.
A highlight at the pavilion is a speaker's corner where 20-minute presentation slots are made available to organisations participating in the area. The slots are limited and will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis. “We welcome submissions on themes such as textiles, polymers and process technology. To ensure the quality of the submissions, all presentations and posters are subject to the approval of a technical committee,” said Vits.
Besides research and education, ITMA 2011 will also of course feature exhibits from the entire textile and garment value chain, ranging from textile spinning, web formation, winding and texturing, weaving, knitting and hosiery, embroidery and braiding, finishing, dyestuffs and chemicals, software, logistics, plant operations, recycling, education, garment making and textile processing. The 100,000 sqm net exhibition is expected to attract over 1,400 international exhibiting companies.
