600 Exhibitors to Showcase Textiles at ‘Tex-Trends India – 2012’

Tex Trends India 2012 – an exhibition par excellence that sets the standards in fashion with a vivid display of designs in textiles makes a grand comeback with its 2nd edition to be held from 19th to 21st January 2012 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This time the fair is expected to have participation from 600 exhibitors. Essentially, an initiative by the Ministry of Textiles, and Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Tex Trends India would be organized by Apparel Export Promotion Council has been entrusted as the lead agency with the support of 10 other Textile Export Promotion Councils.
Tex Trends India 2012 will present fashion shows, seminars, theme pavilions and networking sessions apart from flaunting the diverse range of fabrics from the length and breadth of the country including apparels, fashion jewellery and accessories; Home furnishings and floor coverings; fibres, yarns, wool, threads and fabrics, carpets, silk, synthetic, rayon and cotton textiles, jute, woolen garments etc all under one roof.
On the occasion, Mrs. Rita Menon, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India commented, “Tex Trends India 2012 is Asia’s biggest apparel and accessories sourcing event initiative, steered by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India with financial assistance under the Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.” Premal Udani, Chairman, Apparel Export Promotion Council said, “We are very delighted to organize the second edition of Tex-Trends India, which is a perfect way to showcase the strengths of the entire Indian textile industry. This event will help the Indian manufacturers and exporters to showcase their creations and interact to grow their business by reaching out to more and more international markets. Tex-Trends India 2012, will be the biggest ever event on Indian textiles featuring 600 exhibitors displaying diverse range of collections in textiles.”
“India is the largest producer of jute and the second largest producer of silk and third largest producer of cotton yarn and considering this we believe that Tex Trends India 2012 too will set India as the benchmark for other countries. The exhibition will be spread over 2,00,000 sq. feet at Pragati Maidan and will showcase a range of fabrics all under one roof.” said Ashok G.Rajani, Chairman, Export Promotion, Apparel Export Promotion Council.
This event is the result of the hard work of the Lead Council Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) along with Carpet Export Promotion Council, The Cotton Textile Promotion Council, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, Indian Silk Promotion Council, National Jute Board, Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council, The Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council, Wool and Woolens Export Promotion Council, Handloom Export Promotion Council and Wool Industry Export Promotion Council.
Texprocess Americas

Messe Frankfurt USA and SPESA have concluded agreements to cooperate, co-produce and launch Texprocess Americas in Atlanta in 2012.
Texprocess Americas will incorporate SPESA EXPO to bring to the Americas the largest and best sewn products and equipment trade show of its kind.
The collaboration between SPESA and Messe Frankfurt USA to co-produce Texprocess Americas will provide sewn products suppliers an even larger, and wider reaching opportunity to showcase their products and services.Texprocess Americas will be the second show launched under the Texprocess brand in the Messe Frankfurt worldwide portfolio. Texprocess Americas provides a platform for leading international manufacturers to present their latest machines, plants, processing, IT systems and services for making up textiles and other flexible materials. The first edition of Texprocess Americas will be held April 24 – 26, 2012 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia in parallel with Techtextil North America.
Hong Kong Fashion Week and World Boutique to Promote Exciting New Design Concepts

Hong Kong is the fashion capital in Asia and Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter is the ideal platform for fashion designers to promote their works to an international audience. Running from 16 to 19 January 2012, this Asia’s largest fashion event gives industry players all the benefits of meeting quality buyers, strengthening the brand image, and collecting latest market intelligence. With more than 40 years of history, Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter has experienced numerous waves of evolution. The coming edition features several new zones - Denim Arcade, Handbags Select and Salon of Scarves & Shawls - to accommodate buyers’ buying pattern.
So far, the fair has secured 5 group pavilions from the Chinese mainland, India, Japan, Macau and Taiwan. Some first time participants, including emerging markets such as Nepal, UAE and Uruguay, are also likely to make use of Fashion Week to promote their local designs and build their brands. To give exhibitors more promotion opportunities, the fair features a series of mini parades to showcase selected exhibits on the catwalk.
Held concurrently is the World Boutique, Hong Kong, which is a consortium of fashion brands, including Hong Kong’s Toppy and Handsome Hero, as well as Pashma from India. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the highlighted Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza on 16 January features fashion shows by Hidy Ng from Hong Kong, Craig Lawrence from London, Macedonian Risto Bimbiloski from Paris and Qi Gang from Shanghai.
On 17 January, a nurturing ground for fashion talent, Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2012, will present creative designs by the contestants and announce the winning pieces. Throughout the fair period, various international fashion forecasting agencies have been invited to elaborate on future fashion trends. Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter and the World Boutique, Hong Kong offer business opportunities, catchy fashion shows and informative seminars for industry players to network and enjoy.
As Hong Kong is one of the world’s fashion capitals, many local and overseas fashion brands choose Hong Kong to launch their new products and consolidate their brand image in Asia. Apart from local fashion products, the fairs will feature stunning shoes and accessories from Italy such as the Alberto Moreti Arfango, US’s Ema Savahl womenswear and garments from Korea and France, as well as socks and stockings from Japan.
This year, the fairs will also have the participation of Australian Wool Innovation Limited. It owns The Woolmark Company and launches a Pull & Push Merino Knitwear Promotion Project, in which they work with 5 regional popular brands (Byford, Camela, Chicks, Crocodile and Woolstar) in promoting Merino knitwear, home textiles products in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, whilst working with 5 merino suppliers on product developments. Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter and World Boutique, Hong Kong, held in tandem, are recognised as the source of creative designs and the launchpad of up-and-coming fashion stars.
New Zones being Introduced
This long-established event is Asia's biggest and most influential fashion fair. The breadth of its offerings, from mass market garments to exclusive collections, caters to the widest cross-section of the industry. The ever evolving Hong Kong Fashion Week has, this year, added new zones like Denim Arcade, Handbags Select and Salon of Scarves and Shawls that reflect market trends. This is apart from continuing the zones that have patronized by both exhibitors and business visitors alike. These include Garment Mart, Emporium de Mode, World of Fashion Accessories, Fashion Gallery, Intimate & Swim Wear, Infant & Children's Wear, Bridal & Evening Wear, Fabrics & Yarns, Sewing Supplies, Trade Services and Testing, Certification & Inspection.
Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza
Hong Kong Fashion Week sets trends and attracts the world's top designers and brands in its exciting retail environment. Hong Kong's status in the fashion world is highlighted by Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza, in which top international designers present a spectacular show of their very newest collections. The occasion is graced by the creme de la creme of the fashion industry and society.
Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest
Another highlight is the prestigious Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest, in which fresh young talents create collections to impress judges. Past winners and other contestants have gone on to successful international careers. A number of big brands and designers will hold house shows while some national trade organisations will take the chance to show off their designers in a group runway event. The fashion parades allow buyers to see how garments look on live models as well as assess the impact of a collection for their market.
Trend Forecasting Seminars
The always-popular fashion trend forecasting seminars are an important part of the 2012 show, as the industry needs to have an intimate knowledge of emerging fashion and lifestyle trends. Internationally recognised firms will share their knowledge and experience. The visitors will have the advantage of attending fairly a large number of professional seminars, including one on "A Global View- Key Style Directions for Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 and Beyond” which will be presented by Ms Angelia Teo, Content Director, Asia Pacific, WGSN, Seminar on “Fashion Snoops Presents: Ladies, Men and Childrenswear Confirmation for AW12/13 and Early Trend Directions for Spring 2013” to be presented by Michael Leow, Asia/Pacific Sales & Marketing Head, Fashion Snoops, Seminar on “Australian Merino & AWI – Our Business is to Support Your Business” by Linus Wu, Senior Manager, Education and Training, Australian Wool Innovation Limited.
Last year, Hong Kong Fashion Week was held during 4 - 7 July 2011 when 1,302 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions showcased a wide spectrum of products, ranging from mass merchandise in “Garment Mart” to high fashion, designers' collections and brand name labels in “Fashion Gallery” and “Brand Name Gallery”. Out of the 1,302 exhibitors, 428 were from Hong Kong and 874 were from overseas, including new participating country the United Arab Emirates.
Asian countries demonstrated confidence in the fair by mounting group pavilions. Altogether, the fair presented seven group pavilions, including the Chinese mainland, India, Indonesia, Macau, Taiwan and first-time pavilion participants, Japan and Korea. Buyer attendance was equally enthusiastic. 23,614 buyers from 85 countries and regions, including 12,623 from Hong Kong and 10,991 from overseas, shared the success of the fair. The number of overseas buyers set a new record, with the growth stemming from emerging markets.
India's Apparel Export Promotion Council, in particular, took a reception package to host a fashion parade alongside a cocktail reception. Indian garments were showcased in front of some 200 industry players during the reception where they were discussing business opportunities and making business contacts. The reception package proved to be a useful platform to promote and enhance the exposure of the Indian Pavilion.
World Boutique
Concurrently, World Boutique would also be held at the same venue. It is a powerful statement about the status of brands and name recognition in today's world. Designers and international brands choose it as their showcase in Asia so buyers can see the very latest of the very best.
