Warm Response for Pilbloc® at Yarn Collection – Autumn Winter 2012-13 (BIRLA)
Pilbloc®, the next generation anti-pill fiber from Birlacril®, was promoted in Yarn Collection - Autumn Winter 2012-13. It was a joint event by Birlacril® with its valued partner Ganga Acrowools Limited

(India). The event was hosted at Hotel Park Plaza, Ludhiana on 8th February 2012. More than 400 select invitees from different sectors of the industry including knitwear and apparel manufacturers, eminent

designers, fashion brands, delegates from buying houses and retail sector graced the occasion with their presence. Ravinder Verma, Managing Director, Ganga Acrowools Ltd. invited Ambrish K. Maheshwari, CEO Acrylic Fiber, Aditya Birla Group to inaugurate the event. Following the inauguration, Biswajit Chaudhuri, Chief Marketing Officer, Acrylic Fibre Business, Aditya Birla Group took the invitees through an enlightening presentation explaining the specialty product portfolio of Birlacril®, its key attributes and applications of each product with a spotlight on Pilbloc® which generated a lot of interest amongst the audience.

This interactive session was highly successful and the delegates were all praise for this special session which focused on Pilbloc®. A presentation was made on the Autumn Winter 2012-13 Yarn Collection of Ganga Acrowools  by Amit Thapar, Commercial President, who laid special emphasis on LPSS  (Low Pill Super Soft) and SWTLPS  (Spring Like Wool Touch Low Pill Soft) yarns made with Pilbloc® Fibers. LPSS yarn is being used by leading brands like Oner®, JS Doaba Naura®, Rage®, Umesh Knitwears, to name a few.

Sweaters made with LPSS yarn are low pill, super soft, bulky and are available in a wide range of shades in flexible lot sizes. SWTLPS yarn has a good pilling grade of more than 4 (ICI Pill Box Test), has excellent bounce and bulk, suitable for light weight wool touch garments. This specialty yarn from Ganga Acrowools was first developed for Reebok®. Ganga Acrowools introduced this yarn to the knitwear industry in Ludhiana at this event.

Explaining what made Pilbloc® so special and different was brought out fully well both in the presentation as well as interaction that it imparts softness and unique hand-feel in garments. It resists pilling over repeated use and washing. Knitwear and apparels made from Pilbloc® look as good as new after every wash. Fabric made from Pilbloc® resists pilling throughout its lifetime. It was also explained that Pilbloc® blends easily with other fibers as well and enhances their pilling performance. Garments made with Pilbloc® have cashmere feel, vibrant colors, bright and natural lustre, excellent wash and easy care aesthetics. Pilbloc® is very suitable for school sweaters and fashion apparel.

A wide range of concept garments with Pilbloc® was displayed at the event. The collection included garments made with different types of blends with Pilbloc® brand fiber - including fashion wear for men,
women and children; very soft “cashmere feel” sweaters for young children and ladies wear; school uniform sweaters for a clean and smart look to the students; “silky” garments, to mention a few.

The types of garments displayed included sweaters, T-shirts, mufflers, stoles, throws, caps, woven and knitted jackets, overcoats and others. The collection displayed the diverse range of garments made of Pilbloc® brand fiber, in all types of colors and blend combinations. Pilbloc® Hang Tag Program was also launched during this event. A Hang Tag is a brand promise to the consumers that is backed by adequate product testing and process perfection at the value chain. Hang Tags would help to increase the perceived benefits observed by the end-user and also inform consumers about specific benefits of Pilbloc®. It would help trade and retail partners in their selling functions by promoting brand recognition. A garment would qualify for a Pilbloc® Hang Tag when it meets the prescribed quality standards.

It was also brought to the attention of the invitees that there are three approved suppliers of Pilbloc® yarns in India. These are : Ganga Acrowools Limited, Sportking Synthetics and Oswal Woolen Mills. (names of cities where these are located must be mentioned.) Going by the lively interaction at the presentation made, the event proved to be a great success, as it seemed to have brought home the USPs of Pilbloc, which is now being increasingly understood, appreciated and even adopted. Since the audience represented in good numbers at fairly senior levels from various related sectors, who were quite convinced of  eminent relevance of the Pilbloc®, which is sure to get reflected in the market, sooner than later.
